How You Can Support Persecuted Christians Around The World

My favorite ministry which I follow, pray for, and support financially is Voice Of The Martyrs. This ministry was started by Richard Wurmbrand, a Romanian Christian who worked with the underground Church before he was taken prisoner by the Soviet Union and jailed for 14 years. His ministry now serves to raise awareness about persecuted Christians around the world. They help the persecuated church in the following ways:

  • Providing medical support

  • Help and relief to families who have lost loved ones to persecution

  • Bible smuggling in restricted countries

  • Updates on prisoners encouraging thousands of letters to be sent to them

You will have the opportunity through this ministry to support Christians who are currently in jail by printing up a short letter which they will translate into their language and mail to them. You can also write a letter and petition the government. Many Christians have been released as a result of the thousands of people who follow this ministry and write letters. This is one of the few ways we can help our brothers in bonds around the world. This is our duty since they are a part of the body of Christ with us:

“Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.” Hebrews 13:3

You can also sign up for their news letter to receive prisoner updates and prayer requests. If you wish to support them financially you can do so here:

“There May Be No Christians Left In Iraq By 2020”

Iraqi Christians

Hundreds of thousands of Christians have fled Iraq since the US invasion in 2003. The Kurdish northern territory once heavily populated by Iraqi Christians is becoming increasingly violent forcing them to leave the country altogether. Christians enjoyed a certain amount of protection under Saddam Hussein.  The Iraqi Army and police, once used by the former dictator for crushing civil unrest, no longer offers any help to Christians facing violence. The country has now become a Theocracy under a Muslim dominated government.

“There may be no Christians left in Iraq by 2020” According to the Christian charity Open Doors International.
