God Is Eternal: The Biblical Basis – Kingdom Warfare FM 3.1-1

From the Field Manual of Kingdom Warfare on Systematic Theology:

From start to finish, scripture declares that God is beyond time and eternal:

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

Time came into existence when the universe was created. This is even supported by all the scientific data that we know of the origin of the universe.

Here are some verses that speak of God’s eternal nature:

Psalm 90:2 – “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.”

Isaiah 57:15 – “For thus says the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy…”

John 1:3 – “All things were created through Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created that has been created.”

Jesus prayed to the Father:

John 17:5 – “And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.”

References to God’s Eternal Nature from Paul’s Epistles:

1 Corinthians 2:7 – “…we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.”

2 Timothy 1:9 – “He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.”

Titus 2:1 – “In hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the world began”

Hebrews 1:2 – “In these last days, He has spoken to us by His Son. God has appointed Him heir of all things and made the universe through Him.”

Jude On God’s Eternal Nature:

Jude 1:25 – “All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.”

Two very important parts of scripture on the correlation of God’s eternal nature and Jesus claiming this divine attribute are:

Exodus 3:14 – “And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shall you say unto the children of Israel, I AM has sent me unto you.”

John 8:58 – “Jesus said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Before Abraham was, I AM.”

Jesus Proclaims in the Book of Revelation:

Revelation 1:8  “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,”  says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 1:18 – I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.”
